Pleonastic Ephemera

6.28.2004

I saw Fahrenheit 9/11 tonight. It was put together well, in the sense that it had a flow and shifted tones about halfway through but pulled the audience right along. But since Michael Moore sometimes gets disingenuous with his editing, I was never able to surrender fully to his film -- I had to keep an eye out for things he played differently than other journalistic sources I read and trust, and to judge whether, for instance, it was him cutting through to the heart of an issue, or oversimplifying. Nonetheless, an affecting film, and I hope that some of the millions who see it are people who otherwise wouldn't be thinking about these issues.
