Pleonastic Ephemera

3.09.2004

Right now John Ashcroft is getting morphine or a similar opiate-based analgesic. The article doesn't explicitly say it's an opiate but they're indicated for post-operative pain, and it's hard to imagine them giving him anything less effective.

When I underwent laparascopic surgery to have my appendix removed a few years ago they gave me dilaudid and demerol, and I think it's interesting to ponder how he will feel on them. Will he think to himself, So this is how junkies feel? Will he try to ignore it, or dimiss it? Or maybe be unable to forget it?

I'm not going to rant about this. I just wrote this post up b/c that sentence gave me one of those occasional brief-intense-shot-of-empathy, what-it's-like-to-be-someone-else moments.
