Yeah, so the Phil amazed, of course. The 7th was the highlight of the performance; the old dude in front with the stick got so excited at the end of that monstrous 4th movement coda that he jumped up and down on his platform-thingy. The soloist for the Emperor Concerto, Jonathan Biss, was definitely into the performance -- during rests, he swayed with the music in a manner more approriate for a bar stool than a piano bench. Avery Fisher's acoustics aren't so great, though, so the piano got a little lost during the tuttis, and overall the orchestra sounded somewhat distant and shrunken, like a mono recording through good speakers that are positioned too far away. But I quibble...
